Mixed race marriages don't constitute a violation of religious practice. SSM's do for most Christians.
If they can't follow the laws because their God tells them to discriminate, they should not be military chaplains.
It's that attitude that proves to me this whole gay marriage stuff is a trojan horse to outlaw and drive mainstream Christianity underground. Given the first amendment, the law shouldn't be telling people they have to violate their faith.
Chaplains have traditionally worked in interfaith and non-believer environments, despite the first commandment or beliefs that their particular religion is the One and others must be saved.
Sure and chaplains will certainly provide prayer, counselinlg and other services for homosexuals too. But requiring them to perform SSM ceremonies is going to far .. like requiring Christian doctors to perform abortions or not be doctors.
Obama's political and moral support for gay marriage does not force Chaplains to change.
This lie about suddenly being Chaplains being forced or facing repercussions is being propagated all over the web today.
If there isn't any intention to force chaplains to perform such ceremonies, why are they opposing a House bill that would protect chaplains from punishment for not performing them?
Face it, this administration intends to force Gramscian cultural change.
And isn't is hypocritical to have a position that says:
"If they can't follow the laws because their God tells them to discriminate, they should not be military chaplains."
but they're not going to "force Chaplains to change."
In the same post, you've taken the position that yes, they'll be forced and should be, but no, they're not going to be forced. Which is it? |
