Ted,
the decision has already been made. Everyone just hasn't admitted it to themselves yet. What we are watching is analagous to the guy who has 100 credit cards and has borrowed to the max on every one of them, and the monthly payments now exceed his income. He has no way to pay any of this back, even if he wished to. Then the credit card companies start offering him even more credit, in the hopes that he'll use that credit to pay off some of the older outstanding balances. But the problem is that the minute he borrowed more than he could repay based on his income, it all was just a ponzi scheme in the making.

The EU has only one choice left, which they have not recognized. They can try to keep the EU experiment going buy kicking Greece out, or they can destroy the EU economy and Euro along with it, as they keep throwing good money after bad to try to keep moving debt from the left hand to the right.
