Avoiding wash sale rules:

I've got a large loss in my present Cymer position, which I'd like to use to offset an even larger gain on a stock I sold earlier. I'm still bullish on Cymer, so I'd like to be able to buy it back after realizing the loss for tax purposes. So, how does one sell one's stock at a loss, maintain participation in price increases until the position can be reestablished, and still not violate wash sale rules? Anyone who has already figured this out, I'd appreciate a synopsis of the procedure.
