millions of relatively high earners have fled the state in the past two decades, content to pay their taxes to better-run states such as Idaho and Colorado Funny you mentioned this.. I was just about to post how Idaho has been accused by Washington State of "stealing" businesses from them. taxfoundation.org Idaho is a very corporate friendly state, and it endeavors to maintain a balanced budget. The problem this state has is, IMO, a strong agricultural lobby that has little desire to see wages rise. They are too dependent upon unskilled labor to perform farm work. And since I return I see that the majority of the dairy related work is now being performed by illegal immigrant labor as well. Funny thing is that most of Idaho's dairy operators were previously from California. We're now the 3rd largest dairy producer in the country and you can smell the "dairy air" everywhere.. Smells like money to the operators.. Smells like @ss to the rest of us. But that, too, is changing as they implement methane digesters for alternative power generation, as well as composting of manure. The Boise area is a very nice place to live, with easy access to recreational activities.. And Sun Valley would love the additional tourism.. ;0) Hawk
