Well yeah. If China ever came to me and said that I owe them $250,000 because of the U.S. Government's defaulted bonds that China bought, I'd say, what the hell does that have to with me. Produce the note with my signature on it! Some Treasury Secretary's signature is on all the bonds. Make him pay, he signed the friggin things. I think trying to make a new Govt pay, would be like a debt collector demanding I pay the defaulted loans of a neighbor or even a close relative. My signature isn't on the note. I don't owe a dime. You see the same thing in Iceland. Icelanders aren't responsible for the debts of their banks, the banks are. Greek Citizens aren't responsible for the debts of their crooked Governments, the politicians are. They are the ones who signed the notes, not the Greek people. When the Housing Crisis was in full swing, and mortgages had been securitized and banks many times couldn't tell which houses were covered by which securities, homeowners would say 3 words in court. Produce the Note. Many times the banks couldn't produce the note and show how the note had been transferred.
