Exactly, Americans don't tell total strangers in polls who they favor or will vote for.

Polls are used not to identify the percentage of who will vote for whom but to identify
issues of the biggest concern and issues on which a candidate may gain voters.

Geographic location also has a impact on the responses to the polls.
