You lay out the reasons to own gold. The case for owning gold is that all you say is true. Those who shun or mock owning gold may or may not deny what you say -- but they deride gold ownership because they believe that despite all you say nothing bad will come of it. We will simply carry on as if none of it matters. Buy treasuries because they are 'safe' -- shun gold because it is 'risky'. Draw your own conclusions and ignore the noise.
