Today, I took care of three situations by DTC transfer. Amen. when I asked about why it just isn't done this way period, I was told that partial account transfers aren't regulated (the originating broker can take their sweet time) but full transfers are. Anyhow, I was also told (this is the important part) that you can't DTC transfer mutual funds and "certain other types of securities".

Anyhow, as the saying goes, all's well that ends well (I hope)
