People teach because they want to teach and apparently they are paid enough because there is a good supply of teachers......and having three months off every year isn't a bad benefit either. Other benefits are more than competitive.



"People my age (now 75) had the benefit of women teachers at a time when other professions were closed to them. Young people today do not have that benefit."



You've been watching too much "Little House on the Prairie"....I'm not much younger than you are (68) and I had plenty of male teachers that somehow managed to raise families on their salaries....
