I agree that Clinton was a damned sight better at many things than Bush Jr. And I also agree that we would probably not have these massive deficits and debt had Clinton (or Gore for that matter) been President instead of Bush Jr. Don't get me wrong. In hindsight, I think Clinton was a pretty good President. However, we have to look at the world as it is, not as we wish it to be. The fact of the matter is that we have not had any years of surpluses in the last 30. Clinton was as close as we got to surpluses.

I don't know why it is that everyone puts on blinders when it comes to Social Security. The fact is that it and Medicare are unsustainable Entitlements that will balloon our deficits in the coming 10 years. Those as well as the military and tax hikes simply cannot always be off the table for discussion. We need to move past all this sacred cow nonsense.
