Gross oversimplification, however, SOME hospitals do lose money on acute short stay predominantly because of Medicare reimbursement rates.

There is a lot of cost accounting that goes into the decision process that isn't exactly public information. So, there is significant exposure in assuming the publicly available data are representative.
