Bush #2 and Clinton did drugs, but they were both dishonest and evasive in their reporting of it. They thus set even worse role-models IMO.

And we've had presidents who were actual or borderline alcoholics. I've seen boozers and I've seen stoners, and it's clear to me that booze is a far worse drug, particularly when that 3:00AM call comes in. I'd rather have a stoner pick up that phone than a drunk.

So I give Obama credit at least for being honest here. Although that's about all I give him credit for.

And to be clear: I'm certainly not advocating or defending anything here. I'd MUCH rather have a president who didn't use alchohol or any other drug. And - although I have many issues with Romney - this is one area where he really shines in terms of personal ethics. But Romney is a rarity in society and not likely to be often repeated.
