sm1th, do you really believe what you are saying. I can not believe what you are saying. My teachers that I know work for corporations in a cooperative manner during the Summer. My daughter has a Masters Degree plus 45 hours and working toward a Doctorate in Counseling at this time. Her college major was math. Currently, she is a guidance counselor in a school district. Most career teachers I know have a Masters degree plus additional hours. Then, they are constantly taking refresher and inservice courses during the Summer months. I take it you have not seen the work that english and math teachers after hours in grading the work of students well into the night plus taking additional courses. However, most teachers that were terminated, were terminated due to a lack of classroom management skills rather than a lack of curriculum knowledge and/or teaching skills. As I have stated to many of my local community teacher critics, "use your education just to substitute in the classrooms within their public school district for one week." Most did not have the temperament to deal with 30 students in a classroom and changed their attitude.
