Although I've seen patents mentioned a few times on this thread, I don't recall seeing a comprehensive list for all the company's patents. So I thought I'd share some of my research in that area:
Two patents for medical equipment sterilizers: 5344622 : Ozone sterilization system vapor humidification component with disposable water source patent.womplex.ibm.com 5334355 : Ozone sterilization system spent sterilization agent destruct and ambient air mixing device patent.womplex.ibm.com
A sterilization patent unrelated to ozone: 5403549 : Method for sterilization using a fluid chemical biocide patent.womplex.ibm.com
Here's their laundry patent: 5625915 : Laundry ozone injection system patent.womplex.ibm.com
That's all I could find for patents owned by OZON. I'm sure if I missed any, those of you close to the company can supply us with the patent numbers. Pyrogonn is supposed to have a patent for the monomer, but I couldn't find anything under their name. Perhaps someone could supply that patent number to us as well.
The rest of the patents below are not owned by OZON, and this is not a complete list of all the patents out there for these areas, just the ones I thought were closest to what OZON is trying to do:
First some for laundry systems: Tri-O-Clean laundry systems using ozone: (our ABC News nemesis) 5181399 : Laundry waste water treatment and wash apparatus patent.womplex.ibm.com 5241720 : Laundry waste water treatment and wash process patent.womplex.ibm.com 5493743 : Ozone assisted laundry wash process and waste water treatment system patent.womplex.ibm.com
A washing machine from Daewoo Electronics using bubbles of ozone: 5653129 : Washing machine with a bubble generator patent.womplex.ibm.com
Another wash process using ozone, no company name but interesting that the inventors are in Salt Lake City (must be the ozone capital of the world). 5645608 : Cold water wash method patent.womplex.ibm.com
And now some patents using ozone for food preservation: 5403602 : Ozone food treatment process patent.womplex.ibm.com
5227184 : Method for sanitizing food products patent.womplex.ibm.com
one using ozone gas directly instead of in water: 4549477 : Ozone treatment system for food patent.womplex.ibm.com
another using gas by the Japan Food Industry: 5011699 : Process for sterilizing food stuffs patent.womplex.ibm.com
by Water Technology Resources in Ft. Pierce, FL(Tri-O-Clean's area): 5560831 : Method and apparatus for treating water used for washing agricultural products including coagulation and ozone treatment patent.womplex.ibm.com
using ozone to clean chickens: 5208057 : Process for butchering and disinfecting fowl patent.womplex.ibm.com
4849237 : Method for sanitizing poultry carcasses in a poultry processing plant utilizing ozonated water patent.womplex.ibm.com
They're even doin' it in France: 5087466 : Process and device for treating animal flesh, particularly fish, for the purpose of removing color and odor patent.womplex.ibm.com
chill it an' kill it (sorry, writing this is getting monotonous): 4827727 : Carcass chiller and sterilizer patent.womplex.ibm.com
Of course there's lots of stuff on just plain ozone generation, so here's just one for example from Samsung: 5154895 : Ozone generator in liquids patent.womplex.ibm.com
You should of course all do your own investigations. I think the IBM site is better than the US Patent Office site: patent.womplex.ibm.com
What does all this mean? In my opinion, it demonstrates that OZON is not on to anything new (as I hope everyone realizes), and their success is more likely to depend on quickly building a track record of satisfied customers, than on any technical innovation or advantage. They need some very public successes. In other words, they need to install lots of systems and become THE name in the industry. They need momentum. I hope the WSJ ad was the start of building that momentum.
