The fundamental issue regarding healthcare is the balance between supply and demand. There is very little healthcare available at 0 price.

Historically (150 years ago), The difference between no healthcare and the best healthcare money could by was effectively very little.

With our technology today, that difference is very significant. Everyone wants access to the latest stuff; especially when its a life or death situation.

One solution is to have a national risk pool where everyone gets what they want and the cost is not a consideration. This is a variation of the public option. The doctors charge what ever they want for the procedures they prescribe and the government just pays the bills. Demand is unbounded and supply is constrained only by materials (drug manufacturing, organs for transplants, etc). The government raises taxes or prints dollars to pay the doctors and technologist their fees.

I believe this model bankrupts the nation in short order. Do we all agree with my assessment or not?
