For a third straight year, fear is back in vogue heading into the summer months.

Stocks have been shellacked this month, Treasury yields are at record lows and European bond yields are treading in the danger zone.

Europe, once again, is the culprit. Continued uncertainty surrounding Greece, Spain and the rest of the euro zone has left investors nervous about what lies ahead.

The Dow dropped 161 points yesterday, erasing Tuesday’s rally. It has failed to register back-to-back days of gains this month, and has managed only five positive trading days during all of May.

The blue-chip index is down 6% for the month, marking a third straight month of May that stocks have sold off.
