Imagine a time not so long ago that a high school diploma indicated a certain level of knowledge and capability. Nowadays you cant rely on a HS diploma to provide any kind of measure of ability to learn or knowledge. At a minimum a college degree in arts indicates that a person can learn something and pass a test. Also generally they should have decent communication skills.

The reality is that the education establishment has earned significant power and compensation duping people into studying and paying for degrees with no economic justification for the investment in time and expense. Many of these people would have made better investments with a junior college to learn what they should have in HS, math, economics, science and a trade. There is a great future for people who are skilled in industrial communications, instrumentation, controls, electricians, etc You are not going to learn these careers taking a major like history or some other liberal BS class.
