A new book exposing much of Obama's sordid past -- finally, SOME of the truth is being revealed:

'He can't dunk, wore his hat cocked to look cool and danced like Mick Jagger': Explosive book reveals Obama's not-so-presidential past

He had a pet ape named Tata, spent his evenings smoking pot and when he was in the third-grade wrote a paper about how he wanted to be President.

Biographer David Maraniss's explosive book on the life of Barack Obama reveals a young President when he was just known as 'Barry'.

The book, Barack Obama: The Story, will be on bookstores June 19, but leaked snippets reveal his sordid pot-smoking past, string of relationships with different women and his love of basketball.

School daze: A new book lifts the lid on President Obama's marijuana use at school. This photograph is from his yearbook and thanks his friends in the Choom Gang - slang for smoking pot - and Ray, his drug dealer

Growing up: Mr Obama played on his school's basketball team but was reportedly one of the few who could not slam dunk the ball

'Barry Obama played a lot of Hendrix, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Billie Holiday, but was known in the Annex for his wicked impression of Mick Jagger,' writes Mr Maraniss, according to Yahoo.

'He could do the walk, the strut, the face, and act out the dramatic scene of the Rolling Stones onstage at the Altamont Speedway outside Livermore, California, on December 6, 1969."

The author traces everything from the President's love of hats, 'He wore them cocked, to look cool,' to how he wore his flip-flops.

Peas in a Pod: Mr Obama was known for his wicked impression of Mick Jagger

'His little toe was straight, rather than cramped and curling inward, a sign that his feet enjoyed a liberated existence, unbound by leather shoes,' Mr Maraniss writes.

Much of Mr Obama's high school years were spent on the basketball court, according to Mr Maraniss, but unfortunately there wasn't any spring in his step.

But long before he played ball, he moved to Indonesia with his family.

'The backyard was a sight to behold, Lolo's personal Indonesian zoo: Chickens, cockatoos, snakes, turtles, two biawaks (reptiles that resemble miniature crocodiles) in a pond, and a small ape named Tata that he brought back from a mapping assignment with the army in Papua,' writes Mr Maraniss.

Mr Obama was not always such a skilled writer, as a third grade essay reveals a lot of ambition, but little talent.

Extended family: Mr Obama, far right, grins sitting beside his mother, Ann, who holds Mr Obama's baby half sister Maya, and his step father

'My name is Barry Soetoro. I am a third-grade student at SD Asisi. My mom is my idol. My teacher is Ibu Fer. I have a lot of friends. I live near the school. I usually walk to the school with my mom, then go home by myself. Someday I want to be president. I love to visit all the places in Indonesia. Done. The eeeeeeeeend,' the essay reads.

As he grew older, he began taking bigger risks. When he was living in Hawaii, he used to drag race with his friends. Once, when he was in a car a friend was driving he got into an crash.

'The car he was riding in flipped and landed upside down,' Mr Maraniss writes. 'The other car turned around and found Obama, who had crawled out a back window, laughing hysterically.'

Love birds: Mr Obama married Michelle Robinson on October 3 1992 in Chicago. Obama allegedly once told a friend he would quit smoking once he got married, because then he could get fat

He also developed an affinity for women, naked women, that is.

'Allegedly stoned and drunk one night at Occidental, Obama and a friend stopped to talk to an

'Barry launched into a riff on nudity, offering his theory that the human race would be better off if people did not wear clothes. This declaration was made with the urgency of someone ready to strip then and there. ... It seemed apparent that Barry was trying to seduce the woman right in front of" his friend who had a crush on the girl.'

attractive girl and "Barry launched into a riff on nudity, offering his theory that the human race would be better off if people did not wear clothes. This declaration was made with the urgency of someone ready to strip then and there. ... It seemed apparent that Barry was trying to seduce the woman right in front of" his friend who had a crush on the girl.,' the book alleges.

Some even said Mr Obama was sensitive about his weight, concerned that if he quit smoking, he might balloon into a bigger size.

Friend Mark Parsons told the author that Mr Obama once said he would quit smoking after he got married because then, 'it would be okay to gain weight.'

The POTUS also has a penchant for doodling, according to the book, dating back to elementary school.

'Since his lower school days at Punahou, when he got into superhero comics, he had shown a penchant for sketching figures and faces,' Mr Maraniss writes.

Estranged: This picture shows the only time that the future president met his father, Barack Obama Sr, after his parents' separation. The picture was taken at Christmas time in a Hawaii airport in 1971

Even in Chicago, 'he constantly jotted notes or doodled.'

Beyond the President, the book also takes a close look at those around him.
