There isn't much need for a large navy these days for UK. To sink a few pirates off Somalia doesn't require fleets of ships. The Argentinians can be annoying but it requires just a submarine to deliver some torpedos to keep them at bay.

Russia and China don't seem to think there is much point in building a bigger empire by military force. Japan's Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere remains in abeyance and Germany seems unlikely to send Panzers in to create a Fourth Reich though they are getting grumpy because of Greece wanting more opm. New Zealand is threatening to conquer Hawaii to combine with Cook Islands ancestral lands to create a Greater Aotearoa but that's not UK's problem.

Also, Queen Elizabeth II's coronation was not long after World War II so of course there was still a very large naval fleet.
