There is a case to be made for the shares over the bullion. Just look at the futures market. With gold futures in contango, those producers with many years of reserves in the ground may be quite undervalued as those reserves are calculated using the current POG. If you believe that bullion will increase dramatically as you, I and the futures markets believe, gold producers with years of reserves in the ground are even more undervalued than their current balance sheets would indicate. It is for that reason that IMHO gold mining shares of those companies with substantial reserves will lead the next gold bull ahead of bullion.
