Brown lead down to 5% from 15% earlier........plus Brown now below 50% with statewide voter recognition.........Mandel recognition rises......I rate this one a tossup.

Incumbent U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown holds the lead in Ohio's senate race, Rasmussen Reports said Wednesday.

The pollster found that 47 percent support Brown, a Democrat, and 42 percent support Republican Josh Mandel.

The margin of error for the poll is 4.5 percent, according to Rasmussen.

Brown was first elected in 2006. He aligns himself with President Barack Obama. His website states the senator is "working with the Obama Administration on the creation of a national manufacturing policy that would invest in manufacturing innovation, strengthen our component supply chain, connect workers with emerging industries, and align our trade policies to promote our national interests."

Ohio is expected to be a busy campaign state in this year's presidential election. Many speculate former Gov. Mitt Romney's running mate will be U.S. Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio.
