AMAT: bought at $10 today, probably a LT position, 2% of portfolio; entered orders for equal-$ buys at 9, 8, 7. If we bounce right here at $10, I may double up. This is my first long position in semi-equips, since I finished selling my AMAT long position in January 2011.

AMAT has bounced repeatedly at about $10, going back to April 2009. It is a LT hold at this price, no matter what the economy or industry does, for its dividend alone. As long as that dividend is easily payable, and as long as Applied Materials continues to be a dominant player in multiple semi-equip niches, I can hold it forever.
