10 year treasuries were yielding under 1.5%. many baby boomers are retired or near retirement. people are seeking yield, which is scarce. so, high dividend payers are overpriced. better to buy a stock with a dividend but not a very high yield. buy one with a likelihood that its dividend will grow. there are also some etfs that fit this bill - including vig.
