No, it isn't that public employee's are paid too much, asa whole, it is that the middle class is paid too little. Big difference!

I think the public employee pay is just another of the huge myths the right wing keeps selling. It isn't that public employees are paid too much as a whole. It is that for the last 30 years, or so, the middle classes wages have not kept up with productivity. Over 90% of all gains in wealth have gone to the top 1% exactly as the rich have planned, using the Republican party.

As soon as the neo cons starting crushing the unions, wages started falling. There is a perfect correlation between the destruction of the unions and falling wages for the middle class. Unions were 36% of the work force in 1980 and about 6% now.

The south voted Republican after the 1964 civil rights act and the first thing they did was get rid of their unions and now the south is the poorest part of the country.

You are aware of Lee Atwaters "southern Strategy"; and that Raygun was 'hired" by a kitchen cabinet of very rich people and neo cons to run for president and he was their vehicle to destroying the new Deal and taking control of the country. Which they almost have in their grasp now.

The liberals at least, know we need to fight the corporatists, empire builders. Moderates are like Chamberlain. They think appeasment will work. It won't!

<<The big problem for the Democrats is that public employee costs must be cut to get back in line with private sector employee costs. But the public service unions are such a mainstay of the party that the dems will keep opposing controlling these costs.

The sensible people in the political center cannot vote to keep public employee costs at this unsustainable level - thus the dems will lose until they force the unions to accept cutbacks.
