It's great to see Apple lining up Virgin and Leap for next quarter. Like to see them continue adding more pre paid carriers to offset the threat of lower subsidies and higher rate plans for VZ and ATT. All of the iPhone plans up to now have been outrageously overpriced.

This gives Apple a push into the mass markets that have no time for $80 cell phone bills every month. I wouldn't be surprised to see Metro PCS add the iPhone too, not to mention the pre paid divisions of VZ and ATT.

This could be the start of the big push for Apple away from the exclusivity deals that have contained their market share to 30% of the global carriers. As more people start opting for pre paid phones to escape the billing madness of the smart phone plans, hopefully the carriers will become more flexible.

More prepaid sales would rapidly offset any weak spots for Apple next quarter, with or without the iPhone 5. Pre paid carriers won't be looking to add 4G phones any time soon. I don't think they have 4G infrastructure to begin with. Now, it's just a question of how many people want to fork over $600 for an iPhone to get affordable rates.
