Mohan, I saw some interviews of people on the street in Malaysia and Indonesia. They have seen their net worth collapse and anything they want to buy is now 30-40% more expensive than it was before the market crashes. They talked about saving cash and putting off any kind of purchases except food and housing as they were terrified of being unemployed soon. Very sad.
I remember a time in the mid-80s when nobody wanted a US tech stock because Japan could undercut our price with vastly better quality, they could compete by running their companies with virtually no profit margin. Oh yes, and without paying CEOs tens of millions in bonus. I expect they could do it again.
