Re: CHK damage control

Years ago I had a chance to chat fairly often with a CEF raider..I prefer not to mention his name. He would take a big enough position, easily rally pissed off shareholders to gain control. The end game was total control whether he broke even on his 5-10% initial position or not. He runs a number of CEF's now. My guess if NG rallies then the remaining stakeholders will be OK, if not then they will be diluted massively to buy Carl MORE time for NG to rally.

IMHO, those Hedge Funds trying to buy and sell AAPL to make a profit are missing the main game in investing. Buying and selling firms makes a lot more sense and the best in the biz do just that. I know a guy that made $100m recapping tiny banks after the S&L crisis and he started with $10m. So it can be done if you are not lazy like me...:-)) Years ago I use to do a lot of shareholder activist stuff, it is a lot of work and very stressful. In all it was worth it but more commitment than I cared to take. But it really is not as hard as most would think. Most CEO's are not that tuned in what to do of small firms. But you need to take control of the BOD, that's the hard part. Trying to rally pissed off investors was easy on a distressed firm. But the whole thing was beyond my knowledge of where to go from there.
