speaking of climate change and politicians and stuff, here is what a friend had to offer during a discussion regarding our prime minister - stephen harper: "If you think of all the stuff going on with Harper and the push to promote resource development, could it be harper wants global warming to increase to open the northwest passage to year round shipping. Canada would rake in billions in competition with Panama. Panama Canal is getting too small, ships are getting bigger. Why the big hardon to increase military in particular to protect the north? No ice means easier oil development and spill cleanup. Harper is gutting every form of environmental monitoring and protection. Hope I'm wrong. I don't know, but man, but it scares the hell out of me." i think he is wrong. surely one couldn't be so devious - even a politician.
