E_K_S, thanks for the color in your post. the deflation scenario is certainly something to ponder, although it goes extremely against my observations. I see inflation creep everywhere, at The gas pump (the recent lower prices notwithstanding), salaries in low cost and resource countries rising rapidly, medical costs, food inflation. the deflation thesis just does not seem to work with these observations.

I do think that shorting Australian banks is worth a consideration, since the has been an incredible real estate boom down under that dwarfs boom in the US from a couple of years ago.
