mark-

thanks. the apple thread did well, so i am hoping that this one does too.

P2-- i dont know specific impact. if cyrix and AMD didnt have such strong offerings, i woudl say the world will move headlong into slot one. but...socket seven still has some life in it, even though AMD is doing its level best to handicap itself. i think its going to be a good chip, and through this generation and likely the next, intel will have the majority of the market. now, if the others manage to stop falling over themselves, by the time p2 is going into entry level boxes intel could have a real problem on its hand.

as for AGP, its a tough call. it does speed up the system, but little SW is going to take advantage of it for a while. in the long term it looks like a winner, but here again...there could be competing standards which will gain strength if intels marketshare starts to drop.

OAKT...you have a good memory, that was over a year ago. in fact it was so long ago that i bought it with profits from MU stock<G>. i am looking at it again, but i want it cheaper. S3 isnt a buy quite yet. hold off for a while. i will be buying some soon though. also take a look at ESST and someone mentioned Fred Ferrari mentioned SSPIF today. i havent heard anything about it since june of 1996.

good luck to all,
trey
