And why was it just the Carter doldrums? Did not the GOP have a huge hand in what transpired during the 1970's? The main reasons Carter lost were he put Volker on the job to jack up rates causing a recession and the Iran hostage fiasco. He was an honorable man as was Bush 41 doing what they thought was best for the country and it cost them both
