Ok well some years ago (?6 or so) I read somewhere about an overproduction of good wine grapes leading to an overproduction of good (or at least decent) wine

Well the cycle is always there. And in agriculture I remember studying about how there is a kind of pattern where high prices lead to overproduction which leads to low prices which leads to low production.

Of course it is easy to say just plant against the cycle, but humans are well human.

So anyway in the last day or so I have read in the Wall Street Journal how they are now underplanting grapes in California specifically, but I suspect that that would be a world wide trend.

So these past 5 or so years which for me and IMO have been the best in my lifetime for the wine consumer is going to end.

I believe one will look back to 2009 and as a peak in quantity and quality and the low point in price.

So the price of wine will begin to climb back to more normal levels. The cycle of wine and life will now cycle back again.

We shall see and you heard it here first <g>.

Well anyway I have stock piled huge amounts of wine (at least half from 2009) and will let that wine just sit in the bottle and get better. To be drunk for the most part 10 years or so after the year.

I just drank a bottle of 1999 that was hanging around somewhere and man it was just unbelievable.

We shall see but I do remember predicting at least to myself and friends the just ending good times for wine drinkers around 6 years ago. I now make kind of the opposite prediction

But it is not going to be all bad. The price may start going up but I am sure there will be many great years of great tasting wine to come.
