Teck Selling; Are they buying again low?

I did not comment on the various posts concerning Teck selling some of their shares as they have tradionally taken options in lieu of or as part of payment for services and it has generated revenue in the past for them.

However, if they are buying up again, have they not in principle conducted a "short sale". I know they have not technically.

I know that within many companies shortselling by employee shareholders is prohibited and possible grounds for dismissal. I would assume that short selling is also prohibited for joint venture partners.

Does anyone know if "short selling" in its true form is proihibited by jv partners or only if it is explicitly stated in the jv agreement.
