Re Brazil - elmatador, you post are helpful. The problem for foreign investors is that many of these government policies seem to be not very investor friendly.

You may be right, that in those cases like with EBR, they have to give something back that was "borrowed" a long time ago, when economic circumstances were different (EBR concessions being one example) but for many investors it seems like the government takes something away from these companies, that they thought was owned by them.

For me at least, I don't know what I own and what to expect since Dilma came to power, so even though Brazilian stocks are cheap, I don't dare to bottom fish, since Brazil seems like a mild case of Argentina to me, where the government disowns business under what seems to me questionable pretenses.

I am sure many others are in the same boat.
