Hi Frank, I am happy to have you here. Yours are the kinds of posts I would like to see more of. As far as the details of the internal wrangling going on in the standards committees etc, I will have to talk to someone in our Fusion group. I don't work on our Fusion product directly and so while I have knowledge of the field and technology, I don't know all the internal workings of the politics. My take on this is that the market is going to demand inter-operability and the only way that is feasible is through a standardization of the compression algorithms, call-control etc. Companies like Worldcom/MCI aren't going to just buy from a proprietary vendor of gateways when they have the choice of using gateways that adhere to standards. The vendors will have to comply. The question about when/how good they are, I will find out more from the experts working around me. -Atin
