If you tend to believe the latest rumors and reports than you can take it for granted that Google’s alleged Nexus tablet, made in collaboration with Asus, will indeed be unveiled at the upcoming Google I/O — happening between June 27 and 29 at San Francisco’s Moscone Center.

Manufactured by Quanta, the Nexus tablet will reportedly wear a price tag of $199, according to “sources from upstream component makers”. Not only that, but the seven-incher will reportedly go on sale in July with expected sales of three million units in the second half of the year.

According to DigiTimes, Asustek Chairman Jonney Shih will join the event to unveil the tablet together with Google. The report speculates that, due to the low price-point, the Nexus tablet will only sport a front-facing webcam in addition to only supporting WiFi connectivity.

As a side-note, Asus is also planning on releasing its own seven-inch tablet sometime in August, priced roughly at US$159-179. However, as usual with these types of reports, treat them with the usual dose of skepticism.
