" Another illustration of just how limited wikipedia is when it comes to serious stuff."
I agree, but understand that Wikipedia is a LIVING work. You folks arguing existentialism here could register and be doing it through succeeding Wikipedia edits on their article on Existentialism, thus improving the wiki.
I grew up with an Encyclopedia Brittannica, and loved the articles written by top scholars in their fields. I could just randomly pick an article that interested me slightly and become engrossed. I'd see a picture of a historical figure I'd never heard of, start reading, and be captured. I wish similar scholars would step up and contribute to Wikipedia. It's very young compared to any other encyclopedia, and it's breadth and currency exceeds ANY other. It's depth currently, not so much. It's THE place to start though!
I love Wikipedia, it's concept, and future as THE global encyclopedia. It's more than just a good idea, it's an IMPORTANT, egalitarian thing, that improves the world.
I've contributed to them. Unlike political contributions, I'm SURE my money did some good! |
