Press states he (Galvis)not expected back in 50days. Sadly Thome can't play first as his back issue is not good. i think next he will go for another year next year, but as a DH in AL--as he proved in the those 14 DH games he still has one greatest batting strokes in history. It amazes how loooooong Thome had to wait to be recognized as having a brilliant career and he is now a cinch for H.O.F.--the reason though is obvious, as Sosa and Bonds and McGwire and A-Rod and Manny were getting all the glam, and were all pumed up on steroids--the blue collar guy, Thome was just not juicy copy--and fact is, if one adjust the numbers of the others, clearly Thome is the best of the lot, and can take his place i would say, as the in the top 10 HR hitters alltime--behind Ruth/Aaron/TedWilliams(counting his 5 years lost to his being a fighter pilot---i believe Williams to be the greatest of alltime/BA/RBI s/HRs)Mays/Mantle/Schmidt/Ott/Thome/Foxx/Greenberg Mayberry is now, we can say, a hot/cold hitter. We , for the moment , remain only 8 out, thanks to Nats losing 4 in a row. We hit 6 games under .500 for the first time since April 2007! That has to be a Phillie alltime record:5 years3 months--yikes--what a run for the team. Max Later,Max |
