How many competitor's are there in the Y2K Plant and now Utility arena? During the CC Jenkins knew of only one and their approach was non-threatening to TPRO (and, of course, they provide no tools). The fact that there are many Y2K companies that do not compete with TPRO is a bonus. Those Y2K companies that need to provide a complete solution are forced to bundle TPRO's high margin toolset into their own offering.

Do we have examples of this? Yes, as companies like AON Corp (NYSE: AOC) and Wonderware looked to complete their Y2K offerings, they turned to TPRO. During the CC, it was stated that others have approached TPRO in an effort to complete their offerings.

The soon to be released UtilityY2KOne product likewise has no competitor's and promises to be a sure hit. The A&E firms are required to audit Utilities on a yearly basis. With Y2K compliance becoming a legal issue, the A&E firms will need to use TPRO's new tools. The cost of these tools is passed on to the utility as part of the yearly audit.

Finally, their growing compliance database is valuable to many larger multi-plant multi-national corporations who have their own team of engineers. Companies such as GM can greatly benefit from TPRO's database and create their systems around it to keep their systems up-to-date. When it comes to embedded systems, the Y2K date issue is not the only date issue. Many embedded systems have other date constraints soon after the Year 2000.
