He obviously doesn't hear that very often, because when he came back with my ticket he asked me to tell him again. I was going over 50 in a 25 and he didn't put me down for the mandatory court hearing, so I must have made his day. I wrote my check for the fine that night.

Friend of mine got pulled over on his motorcycle by a State Patrolman for going 89 in a 60 zone. The cop came up and said, "you know I had you at 89 mph back there." All my friend could say was "Wow."

No excuses.

Cop comes back and says "I have good news and bad news." The good news is I'm not going to write you up for 29 mph over. The bad news is you are getting a ticket." Cop wrote him up for 5 mph over and said, "look, I ride a sport bike, I know you've gotta get on it now and then, but just don't do nearly 30 over the speed limit."

My sense is they appreciate it if someone doesn't try to BS them.
