Left out something. The Symmetrical Triangle is also called a "coil". As coil implies, it is a tightening of the price and in a strong percentage of 2/3s, the authors suggest the form is reliable. Reliable in its suggestion of something one way or the other, but not which way or the other.
As to coil, we are looking for something that may occur "suddenly and without warning".

I think most importantly, though possibly "clean-cut" or "a fascinating picture", "tricky" and "seldom, if ever,.. any clue as to direction until the move has actually started, i.e.,until prices have broken out of their triangular "area of doubt" in decisive fashion."
