To All,

I thought my broker, Charles Schwab would be different. I thought there wasn't any reason to suspect they might delay delivery of my certificates. I thought that after placing the order and waiting the four weeks specified that I would be dutifully delivered my certificates. This is a professional organization, I thought. Surely they would not unduly hold up my certificate delivery. Oh, sure others were having problems, but my certificates would be delivered as soon as humanly possible given the constraints they have to deal with. Yeah, ok, I sent the letter to the Schwab, as RG suggested, but only for the sake of solidarity because Schwab was surely working on the order anyway.

Well guess what...I was wrong. I placed my initial order in back on 1 October and had made several follow-up calls with Schwab always indicating that the order had been placed. They even went so far as to indicate they would add a notation to my account indicating my call and expedite request. But you know what, I just got off the line with Dylan Calister at Schwab and initially he said he had to place the order again from scratch. I ofcourse blew my cork, asked to speak with his supervisor and explained in detail my displeasure. After being put on hold twice for about five to ten minutes each time with me ranting and raving between the holds, he finally found that written order that I placed on 18 Nov (based on RG's recommendation) had indeed been processed and sent to the TA in Florida, and therefore the order didn't have to start from scratch. He then gave me the Florida Atlantic Transfer Agent number (954-726-4954) as a means of verifying the status. I called the TA and they indicated they had received the order on the 22 of November and sent out the certificates on the 22 and the 24. She then indicated that it was now up to the CD (DTC) and broker to finish the delivery process.

The moral of the story is Riley G. was right. If I hadn't perfunctorally sent in the letter for my certs, the order would not have been placed with the TA and I would be still in limbo worst than I am now.

A word to the wise. If you haven't sent your letter to your broker, you probably won't get your certificates until it is too late.

Long on RMIL
