Just ordered a batch of smokes, and tried one called "Pirates Gold". The one I got are the maduro wrapper version, and there is also a habano wrapper version.
These cigars are the brainchild of Rolando Reyes Sr. of Puros Indios fame, and are supposedly a smoke he rolled up some years ago, then stored them and never released them to the market, or some such romantic tale. But they are on the market now, and for the price, I can't say I've ever had a better smoke.
I got a bundle of the Rothchild (5 X 50) and after they arrived, I let them sit in the humidor for just over two weeks to help get rid of the 'shipping shock'. I have now fired up most of the bundle, and every one has consistently been a good smoking, good tasting medium bodied cigar. They aren't real complex, with the tastes being pretty much woody and earthy, and tobacco flavor, but they have burned evenly and consistently, the draw is loose but not overly so, and for the prices, I truly consider this the best value I've found in a hand made cigar.
You can check them out here: (and maybe other places too)

I haven't found a better 'yard gar' or a stick to take out on the boat when I'm fishing, or just a 'walking around' smoke. If you're looking for a decent smoke that won't break the bank, you may want to try these. I've already ordered two more bundles |
