The example of conservatives and liberals looking at David is misguided. A conservative looking at David thinks to himself, incredible skill, dedication and perseverance, what a genius! I wonder how long it took him to sculptor it? What it cost? And who paid him to do it?

The liberal thinks, this will serve as a foundation of what is perfect about our society. What we can do as a government working together, what we can achieve as a society.

Ironically, as described in one of the all time great books, "The Agony and the Ecstasy" by Irving Stone, great art work of the Renaissance era, which began in Florence was motivated by religion.

Let's face it, there has been and may ever be only one Michelangelo!
