I have felt liberals were very effective in getting their message out and that conservatives need to work on messaging.

Liberals are great with their one pillar:
That of compassion for the disadvantaged or discriminated minority group.
It practically impossible to even engage is a rational discussion with a liberal if they can frame the discussion into this pillar.

Outside of this area they are very weak.

Of course the MSM frames nearly every issue into that liberal pillar.
