That's the spin Rather is putting on it to cover his wrecking of his career. He based a major story just before a Presidential election on easily debunked forged documents. The idea that a network would can longterm, respected employees over "GOP political interests" is laughable ... if that could happen, the networks wouldn't be staffed with liberals. How hypocritical it is of you to talk about "truthtelling", "winnner-take-all", and "ends justify the means", while defending Rather and Mapes who tried to throw an election with a story they had to have known was a lie. Rather and Mapes wanted to help defeat Bush and that end justified pushing a fake story based on obvious forgeries.
