The other point is that Apple was not "financially weak", when it introduced the IPhone.

Nokia on the other hand is seen by carriers, vendors, and component suppliers as "on life support".

The component suppliers provide the high volume, well financed manufactures with "first dibs", as their invoices will not be "strung out" by the manufacture.

Nokia is seen as "financially weak", so you combine "financial weakness" and "fear" to it employee base, and you have a recipe for disaster. Employees begin spending their days looking for alternative employers. The fact that they cut the heart our of the company by discarding Symbian, has done little to boost employee moral. Eveyone just waits for the next "Black Friday".
