well i'm a conservative with 6 kids but i really dont like the spin that the far right puts on healthcare.

for example the "death panels" that they tout with the end of their argument being that if we have a govt sponsored health care program that the govt will be deciding what we do or dont get treated for. even though my doctor may feel a particular treatment is the best -- because of cost they are required to try all the lessor treatments first.

i pay HUGE premiums for private health care and the only difference is that instead of the govt making the decision about how and what treatment i get i have loss mitigators at the insurance company making the calls. frankly, i think i trust the govt more than the insurance companies.

as for it being a tax -- not so sure about that. one of the arguments that IT IS NOT A TAX is the fact that we require all drivers to carry insurance with the idea being that each individual should be responsible for the how they drive. a good driver gets a good driver discount.

under a mandatory regulated health program it probable will become similar -- you want to be fat ---> you pay more. it may not start out like that but i'm sure it would move in that direction.

in this country if you end up in the hospital they pretty much cant turn you away. i read about an illegal alien that was in the hospital for over a year and received over a million dollars worth of health care. when this happens the tax payers (you and me ) end up picking up the tab --- so one way or another we are going to pay.

tell me... why are the most content people on the planet living in countries where they have universal health care?
