The 'sillyvilian' world is a bit different than the military world, eh?

In the Army, people pull together because they all know the challenges one faces when moving. They could be needing your assistance tomorrow, so they gladly help you today. And the family next door is facing the same things your's is facing.

My moves to the Embassies where I worked in Africa were some of the smoothest I ever made. Almost every single detail was taken care of before I even arrived, down to having the refrigerators stocked with food, and beer !

Anything the folks at the embassy couldn't arrange in advance, I had been made aware of in plenty of time to be prepared to deal with it. It was great, and I tried to make sure my replacements had it even better than I.

Some of the best benefits of the military don't have a $$ value attached. The camaraderie is one of those.
