" I took the National guard route. I was lucky to get in I felt."

I took the show up for my pre-induction physical on marijuana, LSD and speed route. I took a bus from Austin to San Antonio for my physical with 60 other pre-inductees. Out of all of us, only about three just weren't going to go. We all ended up on the "Group W" bench. The attitude of most of the group was helplessness, of a few, eagerness to go kill "gooks".

I told the psychologist that questioned me that I just wasn't going to kill any Vietnamese for the government, that I didn't even KNOW any Vietnamese, and had nothing against any of them. I told her I couldn't imagine any Vietnamese coming HERE to help if we were in a war. I told her that if they put me in the army I was going to work against them, and try to convince as many people as possible to join me. I told her they'd be very sorry they'd drafted me.

I don't know if it was that, or the drugs they'd tested us for, but I wasn't drafted, and was classified 4-F.
